Parents could not hear the speakers in the stands, chairs were placed so that the sun was directly into graduates eyes and parents were not in the shade, speeches and awards given at the beginning were not relevant to the graduates and should have been saved for some other separate ceremony, should have been held in Bartow, 2020 graduates should have had a different ceremony because it was entirely too long

The Graduate school graduation Friday was very nice. Our 2020 MEng graduate finally was able to be in person - and UAB allowed 4 guests! UAB did a great job keeping people spaced and safe from parking lot to bleacher seat. BTW - vaccination site was active on site at Legion Field. Wow - Go Blazers

For the commencement to have been moved to Legion Field for Covid protocols. There was nothing set in place other than the graduates chairs sitting a few feet apart. The entire ceremony was a mess because there was practice and graduates did not know what they were suppose to do. It was too much for one commencement and should have been broken up. This could have prevented people getting sick from the heat, leaving early, and the length of the ceremony. There was so much going on around the stadium that it didn’t feel like a well thought out event/graduation, but more like a football game.

No shade for guests or students, left with SECOND DEGREE burns on my legs and am unable to walk. Crammed us together like sardines while we lined up for the ceremony, but on the field we were “socially distanced”. Also gave us hot water bottles under our seats, because COVID can’t get you if you’re drinking or eating! Their rules make no sense. This school has been nothing but rude, indifferent, and disorganized since I’ve been here, and I am glad to be free of the whole institution. They don’t care about their students, and they pour all their resources into the med school, neglecting other majors. It’s about the money, not the students.

The ceremony was great but the Legion Field staff was incredibly rude to the graduates and their families. I understand they have rules to enforce but they weren’t professional about it all.

The Matching Blazers ( the marching band) sounded really good, especially when the canned music wasn't being played over them. What's up with that? If you have a good marching band, do you really need the canned music? Plus couldn't understand the announcer or the guy on the field because of the speakers. Either too loud or maybe turn off the speakers on end of the field where the score board isn't working. Also, what's up with that?
