World Refugee Day SIM Event
About this Event
1632 Oxmoor Rd, Homewood, AL 35209
https://www.alirp.org/upcoming-events.htmlThe Alabama Interfaith Refugee Partnership (ALIRP) will host a public simulation (SIM) at Homewood Central Park to honor World Refugee Day. Simulations offer an experience that imitates a real-world situation where the participant (or learner) can, in real time, practice different actions and responses. ALIRP has developed a SIM to create the experience of what it is like to arrive at a refugee camp for intake and registration. Come and participate in the SIM or just come out and learn what ALIRP does and how you can get involved with the current global refugee crisis both abroad and here in Birmingham.
The simulation will take place at Homewood Central Park. ALIRP and co-sponsors will be at the park all day from 10 am-3 pm; the SIM will run 2 times during the day from 10-11 am and 1-2 pm. Register ahead of the date to secure your desired time slot; walk-ups are welcome on the day of the event if space allows. Visit ALIRP’s event website for more information and a link to register.
ALIRP is a non-profit 501(c)3 non-profit organization based in Birmingham, AL. ALIRP is a diverse coalition of community members who have come together for the purpose of supporting refugees and asylum-seekers through direct assistance, education, and advocacy. Co-Sponsors of this event include UAB Institute of Human Rights and UAB Sparkman Center for Global Health, among others.
