What factors lie behind the high prevalence of head and neck cancer in Nepal? with Dr. Sadeep Shrestha
Thursday, November 11, 2021 10am to 11am
About this Event
Rates of head and neck cancer are very high in Nepal. The actual prevalence is unknown, as there is no official national data due to a lack of cancer registries and hospitals equipped to gather the data. Worldwide, head and neck cancer collectively is the fifth most common malignancy, with more than 550,000 diagnoses and 380,000 deaths per year.
In 2019, Dr. Sadeep Shrestha was among the first cohort of Global Health Pilot Project Awardees from the Sparkman Center for Global Health. His proposed project focused on this question: What factors lie behind the high prevalence of head and neck cancer in Nepal?
Join this seminar on Thursday, November 11th at 10am central to hear from investigators about the situation of head & neck cancer in Nepal, and how this project is engaging with the issue.
