 ling Pathways and Disease Links\n\nSphingolipids are more than structural c
 omponents of cell membranes\; they are powerful signaling molecules that in
 fluence cell survival\, inflammation\, and metabolic balance. In this semin
 ar\, Dr. Nawajes Mandal will discuss how alterations in sphingolipid metabo
 lism contribute to the development of retinal and corneal diseases\, includ
 ing degenerative and inflammatory disorders. He will also highlight emergin
 g applications of sphingolipidomics in identifying lipid-based biomarkers f
 or ocular surface (dry eye) disease and systemic metabolic conditions such 
 as type 2 diabetes. By bridging basic lipid biology with translational rese
 arch\, Dr. Mandal’s work reveals how targeting sphingolipid pathways can op
 en new avenues for diagnosis and therapy in vision-threatening and metaboli
