DESCRIPTION:This past week\, body cam footage from six officers from the Me
 mphis Police Department surfaced of the murder of Tyre Nichols. On January
  7th\, Tyre was pulled over by Tadarrius Bean\, Demetrius Haley\, Emmitt M
 artin III\, Desmond Mills Jr. and Justin Smith who were all fired and char
 ged with second degree murder and kidnapping.\n\nTyre Nichols' last moment
 s were spent calling out to his mother. In these moments\, we remember Geo
 rge Floyd's voice echo from 2020 and Emmett Till’s memory from 1955. The
 se moments in time are not rare occurrences\, but a pattern of harm toward
  black people that the United States continues to enforce.\n\nAs the Black
  Student Awareness Committee\, it is our obligation to our students to spe
 ak on and speak out against injustice\, not only on campus\, but within ou
 r country. BSAC'S goal is to raise awareness and advocate for students at 
 UAB. \n\nFeel free to bring posters\, or come to the SMDP office (Hill Stu
