This event is a two-day example-driven hands-on workshop designed to teach introductory Bulk RNA Seq. It is designed as a foundation upon which more specialized skills can be built. The workshop will not delve into transcriptomics topics beyond bulk RNA-seq. These topics will be covered in later workshops. For this workshop familiarity with R and unix is heavily encouraged (example: if you have taken a previous Software Carpentry workshop with us prior, that would meet requirements).
The registration cost is $150. The fee is payable with a UAB Oracle account number that is entered during registration. See the event confirmation for further details. Please be sure to obtain approval from your PI or Department supervisor before registering. Since registration holds a spot for you after the registration deadline these fees are non refundable.
Participants are required to bring their own laptops, equipped with either Mac, Linux, or Windows operating systems.
While we aim to provide a comprehensive introduction to these tools, the workshop will not delve into advanced topics in computational biology or software development. It is designed as a foundation upon which further, more specialized skills can be built.
