This seminar is part of the UAB Research Center of Excellence in Arsenicals Grand Rounds. The goal of the Center is to develop mechanism-based highly efficacious medical countermeasures against arsenical chemical warfare agents. Dr. Pamela Lein, Professor of Neurotoxicology and Chair of the Department of Molecular Biosciences in the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of California, Davis (UC Davis), will be presenting on medical countermeasures for acute intoxication with seizurogenic chemical threat agents. Participants will learn about the acute and chronic effects of acute intoxication with organophosphate (OP) cholinesterase inhibitors, explore the limitations of the current standard of care for treating OP-induced cholinergic crisis and learn about novel therapeutic approaches for terminating acute status epilepticus and mitigating long-term adverse neurological consequences. Registration Required
