Do we really grow shrimp at UAB? Join us for The Science of Shrimp as we take a closer look at this tasty crustacean. 

The Science of Shrimp is part of a special webinar series A Science Of... that will explore the science behind food. This session features Dr. Stephen Watts, professor in the UAB Department of Biology.

There is more to shrimp than being a common hors d'oeuvre! It is a multi-billion dollar industry, most of which is due to worldwide aquaculture, particularly in Asian countries. New technologies at UAB will not only make shrimp culture efficient, but can be used to improve human behavior.

Dr. Watts is the Graduate Program Director and a professor in the UAB Department of Biology, senior scientist in the Nutrition Obesity Res Center (NORC), the Global Center for Craniofacial, Oral and Dental Disorders, and the Comprehensive Diabetes Center.
