If you’re asking “What is Huntington’s Disease?” here is a brief answer from the HDSA website: “HD is a brain disease that is passed down in families from generation to generation. HD causes deterioration in a person’s physical, mental, and emotional abilities, usually during their prime working years, and currently has no cure.” Many have said it is like having Parkinson’s, ALS, and Alzheimer’s all at once. It is a devastating illness and has deeply impacted generations of families.
Team Hope Walks aim to raise money in the local community to support the mission and services of the Huntington’s Disease Society of America. From their website, “The Huntington’s Disease Society of America is the premier not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of everyone affected by Huntington’s disease. From community services and education to advocacy and research, HDSA is the world’s leader in providing help for today, hope for tomorrow for people with Huntington’s disease and their families.”
