Teaching Effectiveness: First Day of Class

This is a past event.

Presented in the UAB Center for Teaching and Learning for UAB faculty by CTL Director Amy Chatham, Ph.D.

What happens on the first day in the classroom sets the tone for the whole course. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to welcome the students, focus their attention, take attendance, organize rules and procedures, review the syllabus (the right way), and set your students up for success in what could become the best class they’ve ever taken.

Registration is requested for CTL events. Register by clicking the "I'm interested" button.

Please note:  The UAB Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) presents workshops on teaching practice for UAB faculty (including adjunct instructors), pre-approved graduate students who are currently under contract to teach academic courses at UAB, and teaching staff.  Academic advisors and staff who work directly with students are also approved to come to non-teaching focused workshops. CTL workshops are not intended for UAB graduate or undergraduate students.
