Textbook Affordability: Making Your Course More Affordable for Students
Presented by: UAB Libraries: Delores Carlito, MLS, MA, MAEd and Jaycee Chapman, MLS
Description: Skyrocketing textbook prices affect not only students’ financial wellness but also their academic coursework, mental health, and ability to thrive in higher education. In this workshop, you’ll learn how you can help mitigate this problem by using low- or no-cost materials that are high-quality and even tailored to your course, as well as how you can use UAB Libraries to make this process easier. The presenters will show you options for affordable instructional material and how UAB librarians can support course material curation. You will be able to set your students up for success before day one of class by contributing to their ability to afford and succeed in higher education.
Please Note: This workshop is designed for current UAB teaching faculty, instructors of record, academic advisors, and other student-facing staff members. Graduate students and postdoctoral scholars are invited to attend the CTL LIFT series workshops instead.
Total CTL Point Value: 10,000 pts.
