Teaching Effectiveness: Cheat-Proof your Course Incentivizing Investment in Authentic Work

Description: Preventing cheating involves more than simply using plagiarism detectors or anti-cheating test software, although they certainly can play a role in monitoring academic integrity. This workshop presents multiple ideas that you can employ to make it unpalatable and more difficult for students to cheat. Even more importantly, glean tips for helping your students recognize the value of producing authentic academic work.

Registration and Check in Details:

  • Please use the registration button above to register. Upon registration you will receive reminder emails. When you arrive for your workshop you will use an ipad to find your name. Once you select your name you will then click "check in." You will not need the QR code that is sent in the reminder emails.
  • You will need an active UAB ONE Card to get to the fourth floor.

Please Note: The UAB Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) presents workshops on teaching practice for UAB faculty (including adjunct instrucotrs), pre-approved graduate students who are currently under contract to teach academic courses at UAB, and teaching staff. Academic advisors and staff who work directly with students are also approved to come to non-teaching focused workshops. CTL workshops are not intended for UAB graduate or undergraduate students.
