About this Event
1402 10th Ave S, Birmingham, Alabama 35294
In 2023, both Taylor Swift and Beyoncé made music history when they launched their Eras and Renaissance world tours. To date, the two tours have taken in almost 1.6 billion dollars, with the concerts super-charging local economies and the performers inspiring near-feverish devotion from fans.
In this Women’s and Gender Studies roundtable, we will explore the cultural meanings behind these two mega-tours. In what ways do Taylor Swift and Beyoncé represent contemporary feminism? How does their feminism shape their relationship to their fans (and vice versa)? And what does the extraordinary success of their mega-tours tell us about the state of feminism today?
Snacks will be served!
