For nearly three decades, the sacred and scholarly work of Chadra Pittman has centered on honoring Ancestors through memory and ritual. From her role at the world-renowned 17th century New York African Burial Ground, Creator of Middle Passage Remembrance ceremonies to honoring victims of Femicide, Hate Crimes, Intimate Partner and Domestic Violence, Pittman creates safe spaces to remember those for whom the world has forgotten and permanetly silenced. Join us as, IHR Graduate Teaching Assistant, Chadra Pittman pays tribute to the African Ancestors as we celebrate the first day of Black History Month.
