Social Justice Cafe: Updates on the Ukraine/Russia Conflict
About this Event
The conflict between Russia and Ukraine has been ongoing since 2014, when Russia annexed Crimea and supported separatist fighting in eastern Ukraine. The crisis escalated dramatically four years ago, when Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The fighting continues to this day, alongside numerous peace proposals that have yet to produce a lasting resolution. Join us for a conversation with Dr. Renato Corbetta, Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration, along with his co-author, Khrystyna Holynska, as they divulge their experiences analyzing the complexities of the crisis, provide updates on the region, and highlight human rights concerns stemming from this conflict.
Our Social Justice Café series is hosted virtually every other Wednesday throughout the academic year on Zoom. Add us to your calendar so you never miss another Social Justice Café!
Activities Statement: The purpose of all UAB Institute for Human Rights (IHR) programs, activities, and endeavors is to foster collaboration, scholarly exchange, and academic learning related to human rights. All are welcome to attend.
