Join the UAB Institute for Human Rights for a Social Justice Café on the right to education and how it applies to the U.S. and the international context.  After a short introduction to education as a human right, we will hear from Dr. Stacy Moak, Professor of Political Science, who will talk about an education project in Kenya that focuses on keeping girls in school, and Joseph Abua, IHR Graduate Researcher, who will talk about his experience coming to UAB as an international student from Nigeria. Everyone is welcome to attend and ask question and/or share their own experiences in the community conversation following the talk.

As a public institution of higher education, UAB adheres to principles of Free Speech, Civil Discourse and Institutional Neutrality. Freedom of Expression and Use of UAB Facilities Policy allows members of the UAB community to hold events on campus; views expressed do not represent the university, which adheres to institutional neutrality. Events held at UAB are required to comply with all applicable state and federal laws, and participation is not limited based on impermissible criteria (e.g., age, gender, race, national origin, sexual orientation).
