Social Justice Café: Free Speech and the Right to Assemble - Civic Expression in Minnesota
About this Event
Join us for a conversation about the constitutional protections of free speech and peaceful assembly, with attention to recent public demonstrations and community responses in Minnesota. We will discuss how these First Amendment rights function in practice, the legal limits of protest, and the ongoing challenge of balancing public order with the freedom to express collective concerns in a democratic society. Leading the conversation will be Dr. Carrie Booth Walling, Director of the Human Rights Program at the University of Minnesota.
Please pay attention to the change in time for this Social Justice Café. It will be hosted at 12 - 1PM instead of the usual 4-5 PM slot.
Our Social Justice Café series is hosted virtually every other Wednesday throughout the academic year on Zoom. Add us to your calendar so you never miss another Social Justice Café!
