Shuttlesworth Film Screening

This is a past event.

As part of Black History Month, UAB will host a screening of “Shuttlesworth,” a documentary that commemorates Rev. Fred Shuttlesworth’s integral contributions to the civil rights movement.

The film, which premiered on Alabama Public Television in December 2022, explores the life and legacy of Shuttlesworth, an unrelenting freedom fighter who inspired liberation movements all over the world.

“Shuttlesworth” features exclusive interviews with the late Birmingham icon, family members, colleagues and an array of authors, experts and community and political leaders, including former Birmingham Mayor Richard Arrington, Pulitzer Prize winner Diane McWhorter and Odessa Woolfolk, emeritus director of the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute.

The screening will be followed by a chat with documentary producer T. Marie King.
