SCOUTs Services Showcase

Presented By: Rachel Daniel, MA (Program Manager, Office of the Blazer Core)

A Center for Teaching and Learning event

Description: Join us for this in-person CTL workshop to learn about how SCOUTs (Student Consultants on University Teaching) services can benefit your critical reflective teaching practice. Background: SCOUTs are junior and senior UAB students that are trained to provide consulting services to faculty that instruct courses in the Blazer Core Curriculum. Past participants have praised this pedagogical partnership program for the valuable insider perspectives they gained about student learning via their SCOUT.

This informational session will give an overview of the various SCOUTs services that are available to both on-campus and online instructors who are teaching a Blazer Core course in the fall or spring semester. During the panel portion, attendees will have the opportunity to hear directly from the SCOUTs themselves about their experiences giving course insights to faculty partners. Lastly, attendees will receive information on how to sign up to be paired with a SCOUT for one semester (pending availability).

Lunch: A catered lunch will be provided to attendees who register by Tuesday, April 7, 2026.

CTL Point Value: 10,000 pts.

Please Note: If you are unable to attend but would still like to learn more about the SCOUTs program, please email the Program Manager, Rachel Daniel (rdaniel1@uab.edu)
