Intracoronary stenting has revolutionized cardiac care and has benefitted millions of patients worldwide. Investigators at UAB developed the first intracoronary stent approved by the FDA for patient use in the US. This coronary stent development process required research expertise, cooperation, and a bit of luck. Join Dr. Peter G. Anderson, Professor of Pathology and Director of Undergraduate Pathology Education in the Heersink School of Medicine, to learn how basic research, collaboration, and tenacity can lead to favorable outcomes beyond expectations.
