QPR Suicide Prevention Certification Training

This is a past event.

Medical students will receive QPR Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper certifications after the 1.5-hour long training by a certified instructor, Angela Sullivan, PhD. Our organization's mission is to expand the education in addition to existing curriculum, raise awareness of mental health, and provide resources to medical students. Students will learn skills from this educational event that are applicable to patient encounter, peer support, and community service.

September was dedicated by AMSA as suicide prevention awareness week of action for healthcare professionals. In light of National Physician Suicide Awareness Day, we honor the memory of colleagues who have died by suicide, to raise awareness and discussion on prevention. It is estimated that 400 physicians die by suicide per year, double the rate of the general population.
