Psychological Safety refers to a climate characterized by interpersonal trust and mutual respect. Among teams, it is a SHARED BELIEF that the team is safe for interpersonal risk-taking. When it is present there is a confidence, the team will not embarrass, reject, or punish someone for speaking up with ideas, questions, concerns, or mistakes.

By becoming aware of the factors that create it or impede it, participants can intentionally and proactively contribute to workplace environments where people are comfortable being themselves, feel at ease in each other’s company, and don’t feel the need to hide their opinions or feelings. Such environments are foundational to creating high performing workplaces.

Learning Outcomes
1) Explore the meaning of psychological safety and why it's important.
2) Analyze factors that drive it.
3) Identify factors that undermine it.
4) Identify behaviors that demonstrate and contribute to it.
