Objectives: (1) Explore suicide statistics in the US and Alabama, (2) Understand the limitations of predicting suicide risk, (3) Understand components of suicide risk assessment and major risk and protective factors, (4) Introduce the concept of the “suicide crisis syndrome” in identifying those at acute risk of suicide, and (5) Break down simple ways in which providers can improve their practice of suicide risk assessment and risk reduction
