Dr. Kerstann is the Chief Administrative Officer at the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University. In this role, she develops research programs and supporting infrastructure through strategic planning, programmatic development, cultivation of collaborations, project management, and grants management. At Emory, she has successfully managed three Cancer Center Support Grant competitive renewals, resulting in the receipt of over $27M in research funding. She coordinated the growth of infrastructure for cancer research resulting in a >40% increase in managed research space, a 23% increase in patients enrolled on clinical trials and a ~34% increase in Phase I accruals during the last 5 years. Dr. Kerstann holds a PhD in Genetics and Molecular Biology from Emory.
The UAB Office of Research is conducting a nationwide search for the Senior Associate VP for Research Operations.
The Senior Associate Vice President for Research Operations (SAVP RO) will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Office of Research (OoR). This role includes managing business operations, compliance, facilities, communications, finance, human resources, and procurement. Reporting to the Vice President for Research (VPR), the SAVP RO collaborates with the university’s leadership to implement UAB’s strategic research vision.
