DESCRIPTION:As part of a waste reduction campaign\, Green Initiative will c
 onduct a waste audit of Heritage Hall with the support of UAB Sustainabili
 ty. Waste audits are a method of assessing the trash output of a specific 
 area by sorting the contents and weighing the total amount. This data can 
 inform decisions for more sustainable policies on campus\, and also serve 
 as an educational tool to show students the impact of our habits and relia
 nce on single-use items. It will also highlight the volume of items that a
 re recycled incorrectly. \n\nThe objective of the waste audit is to educat
 e students on proper recycling and that trash is not "out of sight\, out o
 f mind\," but rather an issue that can be reduced by our actions.
