The Higher Education Advocacy Workshop (held by the Alabama Higher Education Partnership) is designed to educate and inform university leaders on topics and issues important to public universities while training them to deliver messages to local decision-makers. This workshop primarily focuses on issues in higher ed policy and USGA members will be given the opportunity to develop talking points and practice presenting them. Each student will be provided with a booklet that contains statistics about Alabama's socioeconomic status and how those factors impact higher education advocacy. The president of the Higher Education Partnership will be presenting the booklet, issues surrounding Higher Education, and talking points. The event will last one hour.

As a public institution of higher education, UAB adheres to principles of Free Speech, Civil Discourse and Institutional Neutrality. Freedom of Expression and Use of UAB Facilities Policy allows members of the UAB community to hold events on campus; views expressed do not represent the university, which adheres to institutional neutrality. Events held at UAB are required to comply with all applicable state and federal laws, and participation is not limited based on impermissible criteria (e.g., age, gender, race, national origin, sexual orientation).
