The Graduate School is seeking nominations for the 2022 Graduate Dean's Excellence in Mentorship Award.

The UAB Graduate Dean's Excellence in Mentorship Award recognizes full-time regular UAB faculty members who have demonstrated exceptional accomplishments as mentors of graduate students and/or postdoctoral fellows.

Any member of the graduate student body, postdoctoral community, faculty, or alumni may initiate a nomination by completing and submitting, by February 15, a nomination package consisting of: 1) a nomination form; 2) the nominee's CV; 3) a list of current and former UAB graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, their current status, and other achievements; 4) five letters of support from fellow faculty members and current and former trainees, including email addresses (a minimum of five letters is required for the nominee to be eligible for the award); and 5) a short bio from the mentor with regard to mentorship not to exceed 200 words and a headshot photograph with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi for publication. The documentation submitted must clearly demonstrate that the nominee meets the selection criteria and eligibility requirements. Nomination packets should be submitted as one PDF and emailed to kimeaton@uab.edu by the February 15 deadline.

The Dean's Mentorship Award Selection Committee will review materials submitted for all nominees. Based on the review of those materials, the Committee will choose 10 award recipients.

Faculty members who have received the Mentorship Award for the years 2012 through 2021 are ineligible to be nominated for the 2022 award.

For a complete list of former recipients, visit the Mentorship Awards website.
