God in Modernity: On the Theology that Shaped the Modern World

https://uab.campuslabs.com/engage/event/9381219The Thomistic Institute Chapter at UAB presents this lecture from professor Erik Dempsey. His talk, "God in Modernity," will address the questions of God's presence in modern culture, how we perceive Him today, and what got us to this point.
Erik Dempsey (PhD, Boston College) is the Assistant Director of University of Texas at Austin's Thomas Jefferson for the Study of Core Texts and Ideas. He completed his doctorate at Boston College in June 2007. He is interested in understanding human virtue, and the proper place of politics in a well-lived human life, the different ways in which human virtue is understood in different political situations, and the ways in which human virtue may transcend any political situation.
