Presented for UAB faculty by Melissa Hawkins. Join this interactive session to learn about the most common values and differences that cause conflict across global cultures. Since values are so deeply oriented within us, they affect our behavior in profound, often unconscious, ways. Learn how several general “U.S.” cultural values differ from the cultures of some of our most populous international student groups and consider the impact of this information on the classroom.

Registration is strongly encouraged for in-person attendance so that we can notify participants of any unexpected schedule changes and ensure that we have the correct amount of food if a meal is provided. UAB faculty are always welcome to show up to in-person CTL events without registering. However, if you do attend without registering, we ask that if food is being served, you wait until all pre-registered participants have gotten their food before serving yourself.
