Global Awareness-CTL: Supporting the Development of Critical Thinking Skills
Thursday, November 30, 2023 11:30am to 1pm
About this Event
1700 University Blvd, Birmingham, AL 35233
Presented for UAB faculty by Melissa Hawkins. International students are clearly not the only students on campus who sometimes need help developing critical thinking skills. However, it is also true that international students from some backgrounds do not have an expectation of critical thinking in the early years of their education and must learn those skills upon arrival in the U.S. academic environment. In this workshop, discuss ways to help all UAB students build their ability to think critically in the ways we construct our classes.
Registration is requested for in-person CTL events. UAB faculty members are always welcome to show up to CTL events without registering, but we ask that if food is being served at an in-person event, you wait until all pre-registered attendees have been served before serving yourself.
*Lunch will be served at this event. Please let us know if you have any dietary restrictions or if your schedule changes and you are unable to attend.
