GEARs is a monthly series that brings together researchers, faculty, and staff to share ideas, explore new approaches, and spark collaborations. Each session features a guest speaker on a topic designed to inform and inspire your work.
Trey Melazzo, PharmD, MBA, Faculty Liaison and Program Analyst with UAB's Bill L. Harbert Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (HIIE), will discuss how research discoveries, including digital health tools, apps, software, surveys, and other innovations, move from concept to real-world impact. The session will highlight how to recognize intellectual property within your work and navigate the process of protecting and commercializing your ideas.
