First-Year Student Convocation

Attendance is required for all first-year students. 

Class of 2026, join us as we welcome you to campus! At convocation, you will be greeted by the Band and current UAB students, who will assist you in the process of formalizing and celebrating your matriculation. 

Please wear your white UAB Class of 2026 t-shirt which can be picked up during the Class of 2026 Official Class Photo or during Connect Fest. 

Students living on campus will be escorted to the arena by their Resident Assistant. On-campus students (and anyone else who wishes to join the parade), please gather near the fountain in the plaza next to Blazer Hall and the Commons between 5:30-5:45pm to head to convocation. We request that you arrive and enter the North Entrance of Bartow Arena no later than 6:00pm.

Off-campus students can meet in the Off-Campus Student Lounge in the Hill Student Center room 140 between 4:00-6:00pm for a pre-Convocation social event before heading to Convocation together.
