Lister Hill Center for Health Policy Presents:

Hospital Consolidation and the Affordability Crisis: Recommendations for Policy Makers and Employers
Featuring Dr. Vivian Ho

The Lister Hill Center for Health Policy invites the UAB community to a seminar lecture by Dr. Vivian Ho, a nationally recognized health economist whose work examines how economic incentives and regulatory structures shape health care costs and quality. In this talk, Dr. Ho will explore the growing trend of hospital consolidation and its implications for health care affordability, with practical insights and recommendations for policymakers and employers navigating today’s complex healthcare market.

Dr. Ho is the James A. Baker III Institute Chair in Health Economics and Professor of Economics at Rice University, a Professor of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, and a Nonresident Senior Scholar at the USC Schaeffer Center for Health Policy and Economics. Her research has been widely published across economics, medical, and health services research journals and has received funding from the National Institutes of Health, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the American Cancer Society, and Arnold Ventures. She is a member of the National Academy of Medicine and has held numerous national advisory and leadership roles in health economics and health services research.

This event is hosted by the Lister Hill Center for Health Policy in Ryals Public Health Building, Room 407. Coffee will be served and registration is recommended.

Graduate students are invited to attend an informal luncheon with Dr. Ho immediately following the lecture. Space is limited; to register, please email ker2@uab.edu, pending availability.
