I knew that Sheriff Pettway and Attorney General Carr were quality leaders, but this talk was even more inspiring than I expected. It is so awesome to see progress being made in our criminal justice system, holding people accountable for violent crimes to keep the community as safe as possible, but also treating people like people, especially when their errors are relatively minor or just starting, and reaching out to keep kids in school and supporting the community in other ways. Thanks so much for inviting them to speak. In many cases, we do not need to put nonviolent offenders in prison; we need to offer them a way out of the prison pipeline, to become productive citizens.
