Please join the Department of Biomedical Informatics and Data Science for a special PowerTalk Summer Seminar, featuring Mamoun Mardini, Ph.D., Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Outcomes and Biomedical Informatics at the University of Florida.

This presentation will explore the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in biomedical informatics, emphasizing the journey from data to knowledge to better health. The talk will begin with an exploration of cutting-edge AI and wearable applications in healthcare, setting the stage for a deeper discussion on health assessment across the lifespan.

A key focus will be on frailty, widely considered a biological syndrome of decreased reserve and resistance to stressors, leading to heightened vulnerability to adverse health outcomes. The research leverages structured Electronic Health Records (EHR), clinical notes, and advanced Large Language Models to develop sophisticated models to improve health outcomes.

Attendees will gain insights into the preliminary results, demonstrating the effectiveness of AI-driven techniques in identifying at-risk individuals and the broader clinical implications for enhancing the quality of life in aging populations. This presentation will highlight the critical intersection of AI, data science, and healthcare, highlighting future directions and potential for significant advancements in the field.
