About this Event
Please join the Department of Biomedical Informatics and Data Science as we present the next edition of the PowerTalks Seminar Series, featuring Ryan Melvin, Ph.D., instructor of the UAB Department of Anesthesiology. His presentation is entitled "Informatics Meets MLOps: Building and Scaling AI Models Effectively."
As artificial intelligence (AI) continues to revolutionize industries, ensuring the scalability, reliability, and maintainability of models is critical. This talk will explore the intersection of informatics and Machine Learning Operations (MLOps), focusing on best practices for building, deploying, and managing AI models demonstrated through real-world AI/ML projects.
The presenation will dive into key principles of MLOps—such as automation, monitoring, and governance—and how these practices optimize the AI development lifecycle. Additionally, I will highlight practical applications through case studies from my recent work, showcasing models that predict critical outcomes and extract valuable insights from physiological time series and other complex data sources. These examples illustrate how MLOps can enhance model performance, traceability, and reproducibility across various AI-driven projects.
Whether you're managing data pipelines or developing new models, this talk will offer insights on practical time savings from MLOps template adoption and highlight how this framework can streamline your AI workflows and increase project success rates.
