De-Stress Power Hour: Leading Difficult Conversations
Friday, April 5, 2024 12pm to 1pm
About this Event
1714 9th Avenue South, Birmingham, AL 35233
Topic of the month: Leading Difficult Conversations
At last month’s Power Hour, we discussed tthe power of co-working and collaboration to tackle our difficult tasks and stressors. Our student clinicians taught us the power of perspective and the ingenuity of others in problem solving. Co-working requires us to interact with others and oftentimes we experience disagreements and conflict when we don't see eye to eye with who we are working with. While this can cause stress, there is an art to difficult conversations - where we can move past the stress and discomfort and work together towards a solution, taking everyones perspectives and needs into consideration.
This month in Power Hour, we will be focusing on Leading Difficult Conversations. How to we have uncomfortable conversations in a productive way? How do we leave the room feeling as though we have started to make progress on our stress in a confident fashion?
Join us as we create space for you to de-stress in a safe environment, talk to other trainees about your experiences, and learn skills that you can take back into your personal and academic life to take control of your situation.
De-Stress Power Hour led by Student Clinicians, in collaboration with the UAB Masters of Arts in Counseling program and the UAB Medicine Office of Wellness.
Trainees from all programs and departments are welcome – no faculty, staff, or administrators allowed. This is a safe space for you to connect with other trainees, spend an hour to invest in your wellness, and skill build around the monthly topic.
For any questions or concerns, please reach out to Dr. Laurence Boitet (Lmblac@uab.edu).
