This workshop is ideal for public and nonprofit professionals who need to communicate complex data and ideas to broad audiences in clear and compelling ways. Participants should have basic digital literacy (i.e., experience using web-based tools), but no prior design or data visualization experience is required.

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

1. Identify and apply basic design principles (e.g., layout, hierarchy, color, typography) to create infographics suitable for public communication.

2. Use Piktochart to visualize public data and tell a compelling story that supports advocacy, transparency, or public awareness.

As a public institution of higher education, UAB adheres to principles of Free Speech, Civil Discourse and Institutional Neutrality. Freedom of Expression and Use of UAB Facilities Policy allows members of the UAB community to hold events on campus; views expressed do not represent the university, which adheres to institutional neutrality. Events held at UAB are required to comply with all applicable state and federal laws, and participation is not limited based on impermissible criteria (e.g., age, sex, race, national origin).
