Harbert Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship will offer Commercialization Office Hours for UAB investigators seeking guidance on the commercial potential of their research, understanding university policies surrounding Intellectual Property, or learning more about the patent process.
The program will roll out for UAB School of Medicine investigators on October 31 featuring Karthik Gopalakrishnan, Ph.D., the new Director of Licensing and New Ventures in the Bill L. Harbert Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
Karthik is charged with managing the growing portfolio of UAB technologies for the Harbert Institute. He previously worked at Duke University's Office of Licensing and Ventures and as a consultant with a biotechnology startup, and holds more than 15 years of experience in technology evaluation, marketing and negotiating agreements, business plan assessment, startup formation and fundraising across broad scientific disciplines.
