Deriving a significant amount of media attention, an article (Nature 567,305-309) called for the end of statistical significance. Garnering less significant attention were the companion publication of the American Statistician (Volume 73, 2019) and a series of rebuttals (Nature 567, 461). At 3:58 PM May 8th, CCTS Director Dr. Robert Kimberly will flip a coin and randomly assign Drs. David Redden and Dustin Long opposing sides of this debate. Please join us for what will be a lively educational and entertaining debate of this foundational issue within scientific research.

Competitors:

David Redden, PhD
Professor and Vice Chair, UAB Department of Biostatistics, School of Public Health
Co-Director, CCTS Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Research Design (BERD)

Dustin Long, PhD
Assistant Professor, UAB Department of Biostatistics, School of Public Health
