Dr. Lea Yerby, Associate Professor in the Department of Community Medicine and Population Health at The University of Alabama College of Community Health Sciences, focuses on health disparities in rural populations. While completing a health policy fellowship in the U.S. Senate, she became a policy liaison for Senator Jeff Sessions and has extensive experience doing policy work at the state and federal levels. Her presentation will focus on the back end of politics and how policy is created, influenced, and enacted alongside presenting avenues for researchers to get involved in policy change.
