Presented by Blazer Core SCOUTs (Student Consultants on University Teaching). In this workshop, students from our innovative SCOUT (Student Consultants on University Teaching) provide an in-depth discussion of what students value in core classes, including the types of assignments they find most engaging, the type of feedback that they find most effective, and the courses that have played a role in transforming their perspectives.

SCOUTs will also provide an overview of the services they can offer faculty, including consultations on class materials and observations.

The Blazer Core Teaching workshop series brings faculty interested in advancing UAB’s new Blazer Core Curriculum together for presentations and collaborative design sessions that focus on innovative course design, assessing learning, engaged pedagogy and community-based learning, educational justice, and other high-impact practices that create transformative experiences for core students.

As a public institution of higher education, UAB adheres to principles of Free Speech, Civil Discourse and Institutional Neutrality.
