Birmingham Green New Deal | GASP
Tuesday, March 8, 2022 6pm to 7pm
About this Event
Join Green Initiative at UAB and the Greater-Birmingham Alliance to Stop Pollution (GASP) as we discuss the Green New Deal for Birmingham campaign, a people-driven, justice-first climate action plan for the City of Birmingham.
Some of the goals of the Green New Deal resolution include achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions, investing in infrastructure and industry of the US sustainably, and securing clean air, water, and food for all people (just to name a few!) - while promoting justice and equity at the forefront.
GASP believes Birmingham needs its own climate action plan to address climate change and environmental injustices and to serve low-income communities and communities of color on the frontlines of the climate crisis in the South.
