The Alabama ADVANCE Seminar will feature Kecia Thomas, Ph.D. from The University of Alabama at Birmingham, and Annice Yarber-Allen, Ph.D. from Columbus State University who will discuss: Culture and Climate of Academic Departments and STEM Organizations.

Thomas and Yarber-Allen will address various aspects of the culture and climate of academic STEM departments and STEM organizations that differentially affect women and marginalized individuals and serve as barriers to their career advancement and future success.

Co-sponsored by the University of Alabama in Huntsville and hosted by the Alabama ADVANCE Partnership for Achieving Gender Equity in STEM (APAGES), the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Alabama A&M University, Miles College, Oakwood University, and Auburn University as part of the APAGES ongoing programming activities.
