Advising as Teaching: FYE Instructor Workshop

Presented by Council of Academic Advisors

A Center for Teaching and Learning event

Description: Join us for the FYE Instructor Workshop, designed for faculty and staff teaching a First-Year Experience (FYE) course. This session is an opportunity to discuss the goals and purpose of FYE, share best practices for supporting first-year students, explore strategies for increasing student engagement, and connect with fellow FYE instructors. Whether you are new to teaching FYE or have years of experience, this workshop will provide valuable insights, practical ideas, and a chance to collaborate with colleagues dedicated to student success.

Please Note: This workshop is designed for current UAB teaching faculty, instructors of record, academic advisors, and other student-facing staff members. Graduate students and postdoctoral scholars are invited to attend the CTL LIFT series workshops instead.

Total CTL Point Value: 10,000 pts.
