A Conversation with Professor Sam Freedman on Hubert Humphrey and His Impact on the Civil Rights Movement

The Department of Public Administration and Political Science, along with the Department of History and the Institute for Human Rights is hosting an event with Dr. Samuel Freedman, Author, Journalist and Professor at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. Dr. Freedman will discuss his book, Into the Bright Sunshine, which highlights Vice President Hubert Humphrey's role during the Civil Rights Movement. This event will be moderated by former Alabama Lt. Gov. William Baxley, known for his role in prosecuting the 16th Street Baptist Church bombers.
There will be a reception held between 5:00 - 6:00 PM in honor of Dr. Freedman and Mr. Baxley.
Activities Statement: The purpose of all Institute for Human Rights (IHR) programs, activities, and endeavors is to foster collaboration, scholarly exchange, and academic learning related to human rights.
