DESCRIPTION:The Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) competition celebrates the exci
 ting research conducted by Ph.D. students. Developed by The University of 
 Queensland (UQ)\, the exercise cultivates students’ academic\, presentat
 ion\, and research communication skills. The competition supports their ca
 pacity to effectively explain their research in three minutes\, in a langu
 age appropriate to a non-specialist audience. \n\nActive Doctoral and Prof
 essional Doctorate (Research) students are eligible to participate in 3MT 
 competitions at all levels. Plan 1 Master's students are also eligible to 
 participate\, as long as the student's program of study contains an origin
 al research project. Graduates and postdocs are not eligible. \n\nFirst pr
 ize is $1\,000 and the opportunity to represent UAB at the Regional 3MT Co
